Lightroom Plugin

A Lightroom Classic plugin that generates stock-photography metadata — title, description, and keywords — for the photos you select, and writes the result straight into your catalog. No exporting to the web app and copy-pasting back in.

Download Snapption.lrplugin

Install

  1. Download the plugin above and unzip it — you'll get a Snapption.lrplugin folder.
  2. In Lightroom Classic: File > Plug-in Manager > Add, then select the Snapption.lrplugin folder.
  3. With the plugin selected in the list, open its Snapption section and paste your API key (generate one from the Snapption web app: Account > API keys). Click Done.

Use

  1. Select one or more photos in the Library grid or filmstrip.
  2. File > Plug-in Extras > Generate Snapption Metadata.
  3. Each selected photo is sent to Snapption one at a time, and on success gets its Title, Caption, and Keywords fields updated in the catalog. A summary dialog reports how many succeeded or failed when the run finishes.

Good to know

  • Stock-photography output only (title, description, keywords) — no social captions.
  • Photos are processed one at a time, not concurrently.
  • A photo that fails (export error, network error, access/quota denial) is skipped and reported in the end-of-run summary; the rest of the selection still runs.
  • Uses the same account, tier, and quota as the web app, via your API key.
  • Photos flagged as editorial-only (recognizable landmarks with protected lighting/architecture, branded logos, people without a release, etc.) get their Caption automatically reformatted to Getty's editorial dateline (e.g. "Chicago, IL, USA - June 1, 2026: ...") and an "Editorial Use Only" keyword added — review those before submitting as standard commercial stock.
